FAQ

The questions people usually ask.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You do not need a referral to see a chiropractor in Australia. Book online and pick a time that suits you.

What happens at the first appointment?

Most of it is assessment. Dr Barros takes your history, tests how you move, and runs the orthopaedic and neurological tests relevant to your presentation. Treatment usually begins the same day.

How long is a first appointment?

Allow around 45 minutes for the first visit so there's time for a proper assessment, an explanation of what she found, and to begin treatment.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear clothes you can move in. Bring any scans or reports you already have, you do not need them in order to book.

Does an adjustment hurt? What is that popping sound?

An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement applied to a joint. You may hear a pop. That sound is gas shifting inside the joint, it is not a bone going back into place. Nothing was out of place.

What does dry needling feel like?

Most people feel a dull ache, sometimes a brief twitch in the muscle. Mild soreness the next day is normal and settles quickly.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on your presentation and how long it has been going on. Dr Barros will give you an honest estimate at the first appointment. You should be seeing her less often over time, not indefinitely.

Which languages does Dr Barros speak?

Appointments are available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Where is the clinic and where can I park?

6 Princes Highway, Wolli Creek NSW 2205. Nearby parking: Woolworths (2P), Cahill Park (3P), Gertrude Street (1P).
